Explanation of the Code of Arms
At the top left is the Liberty Bell and the year the United States was founded.
William Penn is in the top right section, showing the year Pennsylvania was founded.
In the lower left hand section you’ll find a Knight’s Helmet and a Victory Wreath as a sign of the free Knighthood of Schlaraffia. The numbers indicate the day and month the “Filadelfia” chapter of Schlaraffia was founded.
The masks and the lyre in the lower right hand section are symbols of art, one of the three pillars of Schlaraffia (enjoyment of the arts). You see there the year the Filadelfia chapter of Schlaraffia was founded. To understand this, you must know that the founders of Schlaraffia introduced their own calendar in which the year is set back by 300 years into the medieval era of the knights of old. The real date of the founding is November 7, 1895.
In the middle is a replication of the Coat of Arms of the founding chapter of Schlaraffia, “Praga”, in today’s city of Prague in the Czech Republic.
